Author John Parker

AuthorHouse UK reviews again puts the spotlight on a brand new self-published author who has just published a very funny book entitled ‘Escape Route’. More about the book later but first lets gets feedback from the author, John Parker, which hopefully will put the book into context.

John Parker was born in 1964 an Ayrshire farmer’s boy in the West of Scotland and educated at Gateside School and Garnock Academy, Kilbirnie. He studied at the Glasgow College of Building and Printing and became an engineer in the gas industry where he’s still profitably employed.

Preferring to tutor himself now, he has learned various languages to assist him while travelling and is fluent in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French and Gaelic.

How were the writing and self-publishing processes?

John was inspired to write the book because he knows that his life has given him lots of stories to tell and heavily influenced by bestselling author Tom Sharpe; who John says:

“He has not written a bad book yet”.

It only took John about five months to complete his manuscript of ‘Escape Route’ but he was another five months proofreading it in order to make sure that it was correct.

“Use your imagination if you want to write, but if you don’t understand how to write English…Forget it. Also if you are writing comedy, it’s the timing of your words that is crucially important and definitely next time, I will employ a proof-reader!”

Next we touched on his self-publishing experience which he admits he found somewhat nerve-wracking as each stage of the process took place, format to design to print etc.
About the book

‘Escape Route’ is John Parker’s first published book and would make a good travel companion for the solo pilgrim traveller. It’s about the life of an ordinary man who has seen the world for himself, pulled a trick or two and never got stuck in the quick-sand because he always had an escape route. That’s the appeal of the book, a companion for those of you who want to travel the world, broaden their horizons and make life a playground for enjoyment.
Fare ye weel!

AuthorHouse UK reviews left the closing remarks to John:

“Don’t be offended about what I have written. I am from the West of Scotland, near Glasgow and I’ve had a tough life. So, my sense of humour is tough which enables me to not take life and people too seriously, and learn to have a laugh about things that may be hurtful to others. It’s a Scottish thing, you know?”

  1. I do agree with all of the ideas you have offered on your post. They’re really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are very short for starters. Could you please prolong them a little from next time? Thank you for the post.
